In Love With…ImagineMe

It’s Zachy’s 3rd birthday in August. I know – I still can’t quite believe my baby boy is almost 3. How?!

He is growing rapidly, and so is his awareness. He seemed so excited by the Christmas just gone, and this time around, he seems to know that his impending birthday is a special day all about him.

I love this awareness. It’s been the first time that I can really get him involved in the party prep.  He wants a car themed birthday, so we’ve trawled Pinterest and selected his birthday cake (within reason of course, my gosh…), chosen and booked a bouncy castle together, and have spoken at great length about his big day and what we’re going to be doing.

In addition to this, we’ve also been reading “Happy Birthday” – a lovely personalized book by a small business called ImagineMe. He absolutely LOVES this book, not only because in his little mind it’s a story all about him…but also because he can go on a birthday preparation adventure ahead of his big day. His favourite part is the cake-making page – go figure!

So I’m not going to lie, I must have read this book around 200 times since receiving it last month. Parents of tots will understand what I mean when I says it’s his “book of the moment” (aka, the chosen one they want reading day in and day out). We also count Mog The Cat, Peter Rabbit, Oi Dog and Paddington Bear among other firm favourites books, so it’s in good company!

It’s lovely. I adore reading to him. I love books, and I love that he loves books too. It’s a passion I hope to nurture within him. I’ve therefore been delighted to discover ImagineMe – a small business that recognizes the importance of fostering creativity, wonder, and a love for reading from an early age.

As such, I couldn’t resist highlighting this to my wonderful readers who I know share similar passions. I therefore caught up with ImagineMe’s founder, Ingrid, to learn more about her idea.

childrenWhat inspired you to create ImagineMe?

My kids are my source of inspiration. I love books and I like to boost my kids’ imagination through storytelling. Bedtime stories are part of a ritual that we never miss.

Also as a mom, we always get invited to birthdays, playdates or other events and I really don’t like to get children just any gift. Instead it’s something that is useful, fun and really makes them feel special. I thought by making available the stories that I create with my kids, I could help replicate the experience I am building with other parents.

What is it about stories and storytelling that you love?

Stories take children to new places that they have never been to, teaches values, inspires them and boosts their imagination. I love reading my kids stories – it helps me bond with them and discuss a lot of new stuff. It’s really a great time for all of us, sitting on my lap and snuggling before bedtime. It’s a magical time for us and I am sure that we are creating memories that they will cherish forever.

I love your concept of ‘the magic years’ – can you explain this a little more?

The magic years (2-6 years old) are the years where your kid’s brain is like a sponge. The development that is taking place in the first six years is very important. It’s the time that you build their core foundation for life.

Reading and imagination are key elements that should be part of their early years to understand the world that surrounds them and develop their communication skills.

We talk about “critical thinking skills” and “creative problem-solving abilities” – key skills required in today’s world. What we are really talking about is…IMAGINATION. Reading helps in boosting children’s imagination.

What books are currently available from ImagineMe?

Right now we have two books – a Christmas book and a birthday book that are unique personalized gifts that will make kids feel really special. New products are in the pipeline and all will be revealed in time!

How do parents go about creating their own personalized stories for their little ones?

Ordering a personalized book is done online to make it as easy and as fast for parents. It’s a simple process as follows –

They can create their book by entering the child’s name on our home page, the language of the book (available in English and French), selecting ‘boy’ or ‘girl’, and choosing which of the three characters they’d like to use to represent the child.

They’ll then be taken to another page to add more information such as their kid’s date of birth, and friends’ names to make the book even more personal.

They will have a free preview of the entire book before they actually place their order. They can make any changes, and add special options like who the gift is from.

Once they’re happy with their book, they just click the ‘Add to Basket’ button, where they can finalize their order and place their payment.

Where are the books available?

We can deliver the books worldwide. Delivery inside the UAE is for free and takes only 3 working days to receive.

Finally, what do you love most about being a mother?

Everything!! The power of the unconditional love mostly, it’s just amazing! And their love in return too.
