Hello, and welcome to The Son And The Moon.
I’ve set up this blog as an outlet to talk about the trials, tribulations, ups, downs, wonders and adventures of being a Mummy living abroad.
My husband and I have been based in Dubai for just over three years. Our pet cat, Gobi, joined us two years ago, and our beautiful son joined us just over ten months ago. It’s been nothing less than extraordinary, and having moved to Dubai as a fresh graduate, my post-university years have definitely been packed with excitement and adventure.
On the other hand, I do find it hard being away from home. I miss my beloved family, friends, and my true Yorkshire home everyday. As a young(ish) Mummy living abroad, the first of my close-knit friends to have a baby, and one of the only working mothers in the office, I have often felt somewhat isolated. On the other hand, I have never felt so connected and supported in my life. Dubai has been an amazing place to have a baby, and this whole new world of fascinating people, places, and experiences has opened up before me, and it is here that I would like to share these experiences with you.
From finding the right baby doctor, eating healthy, breastfeeding in public, staying sane during the summer, approaching the scary and conflicting world of childcare and work, to just being happy, I have lots to talk about, and I hope you enjoy what is to come in the following pages.
I love connecting with people and would love to hear your comments, so please feel free to reach out to me on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or via email.
